Born in Barcelona, Eva Jiménez was raised between the city’s Sant Andreu district and rural Vallès Oriental. After studying Spanish Literature in university and working as a colorist for a local animation studio, she moved to New York to learn from its collections and culture. There she pursued independent studies in drawing, painting, and sculpture at The Art Students League, while supporting herself with roles in galleries, bookstores, and ushering at Lincoln Center. She eventually earned her MFA in Painting from the New York Studio School under Graham Nickson. A former artist-in-residence with the Rosemary Beck Foundation, Eva is currently furthering her sculpture practice back at The Art Students League.

// Statement

I make art to bear witness to light, time, space, vibration. Every mark on paper or canvas pays homage to the physical presence of places, objects, and people. I aim to record that these things existed and convey some of their essence, which continues to speak to me through time.
